About Visit Lake Blue Ridge and how we check facts

The short answer

Visit Lake Blue Ridge is an independent guide to Lake Blue Ridge, the TVA lake on the Toccoa River in Fannin County, Georgia, published as a Gold Peach Realty community guide. We aren't affiliated with TVA, the U.S. Forest Service, Fannin County, the City of Blue Ridge or any marina. We take facts from primary sources, date every check and fix mistakes readers point out.

Last checked October 18, 2026

Visit Lake Blue Ridge is a Gold Peach Realty community guide to Lake Blue Ridge (TVA’s Blue Ridge Reservoir) in Fannin County, Georgia. The Visit Lake Blue Ridge Editorial Team writes and checks it. Every fact links to the agency or business that publishes it, with the date we checked it.

Who publishes this guide

Gold Peach Realty is a real estate brokerage in North Georgia, and it publishes the site. The guide covers the lake, the public access around it, the Toccoa River above and below Blue Ridge Dam, the towns of Blue Ridge, Morganton, Mineral Bluff and McCaysville, and what owning a home near a TVA lake involves. A brokerage cares about that last part, which is why the site has pages on buying and selling. Everything else is written for visitors first.

Independence

Visit Lake Blue Ridge is an independent guide. It is not affiliated with the Tennessee Valley Authority, which operates Blue Ridge Dam, or with the U.S. Forest Service, which runs Morganton Point, Lake Blue Ridge Recreation Area and Lakewood Landing. It is also not affiliated with Fannin County, the City of Blue Ridge, Morganton, McCaysville or any marina or outfitter. We link to all of them because they are the sources. They don’t review or endorse our pages. Seasons, fees and hours change, so every fact links to the agency or business that publishes it.

How we source facts

Every number, date, fee, hour and phone number on this site comes from a source we read and link to. We prefer primary sources: TVA, the Forest Service and Recreation.gov, Georgia DNR and its Law Enforcement Division, the U.S. Census Bureau, the City of Blue Ridge, the Blue Ridge Mountains CVB and each business’s own website. Each fact carries the date we last checked it. Where the only source is secondary, such as Wikipedia for some dam history, the page says so.

When sources disagree, we pick the primary one and say which we used. TVA, the Forest Service and Georgia DNR all give the lake’s size as 3,290 acres, so that’s the figure we use. TVA’s current plant page lists 16 megawatts of generating capacity while older TVA pages say 13, so we use the plant page. The Forest Service and Recreation.gov list different camping fees at Morganton Point, so we give a range and tell you to confirm at booking. For the day’s water level we send you to TVA rather than print a number that will be stale by tomorrow.

If we can’t confirm something, we leave it out. We don’t print a depth for the lake, because no primary source we checked gives one. We don’t print populations for the towns around the lake, because we couldn’t find current Census figures for them. The real estate pages have no prices or market statistics. That is why some lists here are shorter than you’ll find elsewhere.

How we use AI

AI tools help us draft; people check every fact before it publishes. Pages carry the byline Visit Lake Blue Ridge Editorial Team.

Photos and the map

The photographs on this site are real photographs from Wikimedia Commons, used under the licenses their photographers chose. Each one is credited on our photo credits page. The Lake Blue Ridge map is built from OpenStreetMap data, © OpenStreetMap contributors, and its pins come from each place’s official page or OpenStreetMap.

Sponsorship

We may add a small number of local sponsorship slots in the future. If we do, every sponsored placement will be clearly labeled as sponsored and kept separate from our guide content. Sponsors won’t change what our pages say about a place, and they won’t get to skip the source check.
